Going Back to School

For many months, I knew I was going to go back to school in some capacity. I had been considering it and decided that I was going to go ahead and go through with it. I’m fairly excited about going back to school with the exception of the fact that I am still uncertain about the future and what my second career path would be (although I am VERY keen on doing Nursing to some capacity…) down the road.

I am currently taking a math course that I had originally took ten years ago (hah!) and an English class I had miraculously not taken during my time there (I was fairly certain I had taken a good portion of them). More courses will be taken as I figure out exactly what I want to focus my realm of studies in and when I feel I have a solid footing of looking at books again.

Now if only the Magic 8 Ball could accurately tell me what kind of career is the right fit for someone like me…

Drama Queen Victim Hotline 1-800-PLZ-CURE

This should probably go into my AstralCandy.com website, but I will be putting it here since it is mostly about in-game social interactions more than the actual game itself. I’m not even sure if this is appropriate at all, but I’m frustrated and slightly disgusted over the turn of events and need a place to channel my thoughts onto. It shall also serve the purpose of informing others on the story behind the mass stream of tweets between myself and a few other people.

For a few weeks now, a person I had considered to be a good friend decided to leave my LS (a guild of sorts in the game known as Final Fantasy XI, but acts merely as a chat channel between people) because of several reasons. To name a few: Continue reading

The 5 Most Important Books I’ve Read

Topic #199:

List the 5 most important books you’ve ever read. Don’t think too much, just get a pen, or open a new post, and start listing books. When you’re done, go book and write a sentence or two about why each book ended up on your list. Do you think those books would have been more or less important had you read them at a different time in your life? Or would each one have effected you just as much regardless of when you read them?

In no particular order:

1. the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

This book series really brought my family (particularly my mother and sister) closer together. It was always fun anticipating the book releases and trying to plow through the book as quickly as possible so as to hand the book off to the next person waiting in line at home.

Officially Unemployed

The title cannot be as straightforward as it is and is the primary reason for me being in Ellensburg since yesterday. As of Friday 22 July, 2011, I have been laid off due to the fact my school no longer has enough students to support the large staff. It is something I have very mixed feelings about considering I had:

a.) Knew that there was a strong chance I was going to be let go.

b.) I am not as passionate about teaching as I used to be.

A Visit to Cow Land a.k.a. CWU

For personal reasons I’ll write about later, I have found myself traveling hours away from home to what my brother refers to as cow-land a.k.a. Central Washington University.

I am going to say this now, I have only been away from the coastlines once before this trip: when I visited Las Vegas, Nevada during the summer of 2000. I remember when my family, neighbors and I travelled through California and into Nevada, I thought I was going to lose my mind. It was either flat, boring, and hot or hilly, boring, and hot. I’ve grown to really like Washington state and the fact they have hills and mountains! It really makes you feel like you are moving and not necessarily staying stationary in one place. This is the main reason I was excited to go. It was an adventure to see what the rest of Washington state looked like and to see the passes that I had always heard about but never seen.

Another beginning

Hi, my name is, well, I will get to that later. I am a chronic blog restarter. For the nth time since 1997, I have restarted my blog. Personal blogging has always been a weird thing for me and I have struggled with it since I began blogging in the late 1990s. Yeah, back in the day when we had regular ol HTML pages. I had even moved onto using scribble.nu for a time before moving onto Livejournal which has been my only constant over the past decade despite my declining usage of its services.

Whew.

So, here I am. Again. Now I will be up front and state that I am a pretty paranoid person. There are some people who if they are either keen or have been invited into my own little demented mind, will know who I am and most likely the real name behind the written words. I have gone by mreh on Livejournal since the mid 2000s and Calaera on many other platforms since 2003 related to gaming. Here? I’ll go by Calaera, too, just to make it simple.
